Here's something interesting that might slip under the radar if you weren't paying attention: some of the rats are starting to jump ship. Or be pushed.

* Jay Garner has been replaced as head of the interim government in Iraq. This was done pretty quietly; you have to dig to find out why this Broemer guy is in charge now. Different theories about why, but I figure it's gotta be the whole silverback gorilla thing, unless they just wanted a fall guy for the post-'liberation' chaos.

* Rumsfeld has had some trouble finding himself an Army chief of staff. Two generals he approached for the position turned him down, including Tommy "The Liberator" Franks.

* Ari Fleischer has announced that he will resign from his position as White House spokesman in July.

The last resignation has the most potential. Will they be able to find anyone who's actually *more* willing to lie like a rug in public day after day? Could this potentially be a chink in the stonewall? Or is it just a ploy on his part to get more money out of the Bush administration? Because imagine the tell-all book HE could write, if he weren't being properly 'taken care of.'

But I find it interesting about all the moving around in the military, too, especially the two generals who refused to take the Army COS position. These guys must REALLY hate working with Rumsfeld. Either that, or they're really pissed off about the current war.

Hard to say what any of it means at this point...but in a way, I think, Ari will be missed. Perhaps he and the Iraqi Information Minister could team up as a vaudeville double-act. I bet they would sell out across the globe.
